Our September lunch speaker is Maurice Boland of Talk Radio Europe. Maurice is a fabulously entertaining and interesting speaker and I know that you will enjoy his fabulous chat and humour. Here is a little background information:

In May 2004, Maurice Boland launched his own radio station, REMfm (now rebranded as TRE - Talk Radio Europe). TRE is now Spain's largest English speaking radio network, broadcasting to listeners along the Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca, Costa Almeria, Costa Cálida, and Madrid.

Maurice presents "The Boland Show" every Monday to Friday, from 11.00am to 1.00pm. His show includes a "selection of guests from hard hitting true stories to big name guests" and celebrities.

The novelist Frederick Forsyth said of the Boland Show: "It's a very popular, successful show, and all credit to him ... it's worked brilliantly. It's light-hearted, honest, and occasionally controversial.".

Saturday 20th November Essential Marbella Magazine - Marbella Awards, Hotel Puente Romano, Marbella. Steve has been invited back for the 2nd year for a guest performance.

Saturday 11th December a Charity Gala Dinner & Show in aid of Cudeca at the Hotel Puente Romano, Marbella, more details very soon.

Over the next few months Steve will also be returning to Barcelona, Vienna, the US & the UK for other performances and concerts.

Looking and planning ahead, in the Spring of 2011, Steve has also been invited to sing in several events and concerts abroad over a period of several weeks.

I am organising a Charity Family Fayre on Saturday 11th September 7 - 10pm at Viva La Diva!. The stalls will cost 10.00 euros, and the money raised will go to Global Giving who are currently raising funds for the Pakistan Flood Disaster. The 1st Beneficial Gala of “Street-O” – the Charity in aid of Philippines’ street children, is being held on Saturday 17th July at the Gran Hotel Guadalpin, Marbella.

The Gala Dinner is set to be a night to remember jam packed with a line up of entertainment ranging from the legendary Mel Williams, Wow Factor finalist Becky Tate, local talented pianist Paul Maxwell, to name but a few acts.

The charity, Street-0, www.streeto.org, was founded in Spain by Raymond Allon. This registered charity has ambitious plans to raise a much needed €750k in order to build communities and provide essential goods and supplies to the deprived “slum kids” who live in inhumane conditions on the streets of the Philippines.

“Our purpose is to raise funds and awareness of the conditions that these slum kids live in. Once you have seen the conditions they live in, it takes a hardened heart to not want to do something, anything, to make a difference in their lives” says Ray, President of StreetO,

“We have specifically chosen a Gala as our first fundraising event so that our guests have an unforgettable evening of fine dining and entertainment whilst helping support our charitable cause”

The Mayor of San Roque, Fernando Palma, and Deputy Mayor for the district of Guadiaro, Juan Roca Quintero and colleagues, join members of the ADEC committee at the fund raising event at Anglo Wines on Friday 4th June.

Over 100 people gathered on a warm summer evening to taste wines and eat tapas provided by Anglo Wines, in Pueblo Nuevo to raise awareness and funds for ADEC. Robert Tenison, author of Deadly Secrets, was present to sign his crime thriller and entertained guests with the story of the background to the book.

The Mayor of San Roque, Fernando Palma and Deputy Mayor for the District of Guadiaro – Juan Roca Qunitero attended and were keen to find out more about ADEC – Asociation de Ayuda Enfermos de Cancer en sus casas Adec Della Porta.

More than 600 euros was raised from the raffle and book sale with a promise of donations on the night. The weekend of 3rd to 5th June saw the return of the prestigious Max Clifford Celebrity Golf Challenge for its 10th Anniversary Celebrations which included some truly world class entertainment provided by tenor Stephen Lloyd-Morgan with The Marbella Concert Orchestra. (please see photos attached!)

The three day event culminated with the spectacular Butterfly Ball Gala, ‘Fiesta de la Mariposa’, at the magnificent Hotel Puente Romano in Marbella, hosted by British TV and Radio personality Mike Osman, attended by nearly 400 guests.

The highlight of the entertainment was undoubtedly the headline and reported “world-class” performance by popular and now acclaimed tenor Stephen Lloyd-Morgan with The new 16 piece Marbella Concert Orchestra. Rapturous applause echoed around the room from the near 400 audience at the culmination of every song, and at the end everyone was on their feet. Barry Daniels, and vice-patrons of the charity, Max Clifford and Pauline Quirke simultaneously rushed from their places to congratulate Steve on his outstanding performance even before the music and applause had died down. Later, Maurice Boland of Talk Radio Europe added, “Steve was amazing and a true star”!

For those who missed the Butterfly Ball, Stephen Lloyd-Morgan with The Marbella Concert Orchestra will be starring in two concerts this summer as part of The Summer Events Concerts in Castillo de la Duquesa on 24th July and 21st August.

Steve will also give the headline performance at the opening ceremony of this year´s 3 day International Arte Festival on 17th June at 8.30pm on the main stage adjacent to the paseo on Avenida del Mar, Marbella. And on 26th June a guest performance at The Gala Benéfica Fundación Cesare Scariolo, Hotel Gran Meliá Don Pepe Marbella.

It will be a fun, family day out with lots going on and will be supporting local business at a time when the economy desperately needs in it, in addition catch up with old friends and meet new ones! There will be a variety of different stall's promoting local crafts and businesses and the stalls are raising money for The Tramps Fund (reg 42) in Sotogrande which does extremely important and special work looking after stray dogs and cats in our area.

16 March 2011: ANTONY GORMLEY AND THE NEW FACE OF TRADITION

Frank Woodgate Lecturer and guide at Tate Britain and Tate Modern, lecturer at Dulwich Picture Gallery and scriptwriter for the Living Paintings Trust (art for blind and partially-sighted)

Antony Gormley studied archaeology, anthropology and the history of art at Trinity College, Cambridge. His art makes use of his expertise in these varied disciplines, with many of his works being life-sized, made of lead and often found in unusual locations. The Angel of the North, 20 metres high and weighing 200 tonnes, can be seen at a great distance from the A1 at Gateshead. His work is astonishing and thought-provoking and sheds a new light on the tradition of sculpture involving the human body.

Investigate whether Valerie Woodgate (Frank’s wife) is coming with him and whether she would be willing to give lecture on the same day in the afternoon? Apparently she is an excellent lecturer.

We look forward to Dr. Paul Roberts’ April lecture: Face to Face - Mummy Portraits of

Roberts will accompany a group on a visit to the two nearby, but very different, ancient sites of Baelo Claudia and Carteia; the Carteia tour having been arranged by our new friends at the San Roque Ayuntamiento.

After lunch on lecture day James Roberts, (no relation), Senior Partner of Bonhams Auctioneers Spain, will give a talk on Bonhams and provide details as to the plans we have to increase our knowledge and interest in antiques next season.

Later in the month is the two day trip to Tangier, which if you haven’t already booked for you should do so as soon as possible. Details of this, and the May trips to Chefchaoen and Granada, can be found in the body of this newsletter.

We continue to review our decision with regard to membership; we now have 20 on the waiting list and more than 40 who have already renewed for next year. In a recent committee meeting we decided to maintain the cap for the moment, but will review the
situation again at the May committee meeting. Whatever our final decision, please be assured that our agreed objective is to continue to deliver more value to our members by reducing the cost of membership and by arranging more tours, trips and events; in May we will update you with news of our exciting program for next year.

I apologise I will be absent for the April lecture; I’ll be back on my round the world road trip driving from Seattle to Mexico City on my way to South America.

DFAS de la Frontera - Chairman's March Update

This March was our most active month to date with three trips, a landmark event, an important meeting and an outstanding lecture.

We enjoyed our member’s trips: to Gibraltar to meet His Excellency The Governor, to San Roque to meet the Mayor, and to Cadiz accompanied by James Taylor the day after his outstanding lecture on maritime art.

Our landmark event was the screening and judging of our “Young Arts Film Makers Competition” done in collaboration with Sotogrande International School. We were honoured to view and vote on the eight nominated 3 minute films and delighted to have Gerald Harper, the legendary actor, to entertain us and present the “Best Film” award to winning students Jessica Hodgson and Lia Newman.

This special day in our history was recorded by Sotogrande TV for broadcast on the internet shortly and will be available on DVD.

Last Thursday a well attended open meeting was held at the Elliot Hotel in Gibraltar where it was agreed that Gibraltar DFAS should be founded to fulfil a need in the well established local arts and cultural scene. I will give you a more comprehensive report in our April newsletter.

I know you have all been waiting patiently for confirmation of the next Spiritualist Church meeting and i have had many emails inquiring about it so thank all so much for your overwhelming support.

Unfortunately due to the overwhelming response I have been unable to secure a venue big enough and with adequate parking facilities for the March service but as from April I have managed to secure a regular venue for the meeting with enough chairs and parking and delicious cakes, tea, coffee, wines and spirits available afterwards (lets hope the spirits are there before as well as after!). It will take place at Kwik Bite Cafe Bar, calle de la Sierra Bermeja, Pueblo Nuevo, opp. James Stewart Estates and the Newsagents in the central square, there is plenty of free parking in the area. You need to be there for 6.30pm to start at 7pm prompt, Anna will take the floor for approximately one hour and then there will be an opportunity to purchase cakes and drinks and have some FREE healing if required until 9pm. Donations will be gratefully received on the door.

The next Spiritualist Church meeting will be held on Thursday 29th April 2010 and our guest medium will be Anna Pearson (www.annacostamedium.moonfruit.com), it will start at 7pm prompt, doors open at 6.30pm and afterwards there will be healing, tea & coffee served (donations on the door) until 9.30pm.

Her Majesty The Queen has sent her best wishes for the continued success of the Costa del Sol´s fundraising efforts for Haiti. A letter received from Buckingham Palace reads `Her Majesty was interested to learn that the British expatriate community in the Costa del Sol have raised over €20,000 for the Haiti Earthquake Fund... Her Majesty conveys warm good wishes to you and all concerned.

On Saturday 27th March, Stephen Lloyd-Morgan and Rebecca Tate will join a wealth of Spanish Stars and Celebrities including the world famous soprano Monserrat Caballé, her daughter Marti, and Russian tenor Nikolay Baskov among many others at `The Children for Peace ´ Gala at the Hotel Incosol, Marbella, and will sing “The Prayer for Haiti” introduced by Maurice Boland of Talk Radio Europe. http://www.thechildrenforpeace.com/spain2010/invitation.html

Fundraising events on the Costa del Sol during February & early March; a celebrity golf tournament, two Gala Dinners and a 12 hour music marathon among others; have now raised a substantial €30,000 for the children of Haiti following the devastating earthquake.

An on-going campaign instigated and spearheaded by Maurice Boland of Talk Radio Europe; 100% of the proceeds have reached Haiti in record time via The Ark Christian Fellowship in Spain direct to The International Child Care Ministries, who have maintained a presence in Haiti for nearly 44 years; currently supporting over 9,000 children in 52 schools.

The money raised so far is not only helping to rebuild many of these schools, but critically will provide urgent and essential shelter before the four month Atlantic Hurricane season begins in late May. During a radio interview in March, Pastor Varnel Jeune , Director General of Radio Lumière Haiti, told Maurice Boland that he believed the actual death toll following the earthquake far exceeded UN official figures, and was `at least 500,000, but could be as many as a million´. He feared the death toll would continue to rise dramatically if shelters were not provided. Haiti ever vulnerable to hurricane damage left 800,000 homeless and many thousands dead in 2008 alone. This year with so many already homeless, a combination of stagnant groundwater and the freshly buried, sudden flooding could potential result in the spread of deadly diseases nearing epidemic proportions according to officials.

A crucial part of this continuing campaign to raise funds for Haiti, was the recording of a charity single “The Prayer for Haiti” in February. Co-produced by celebrated tenor Stephen Lloyd-Morgan, his Manager Nick Holland and Maurice Boland in association with Essential Marbella Magazine; the song, a cover version of the Céline Dion and Andrea Bocelli´s highly emotional ballad, `The Prayer´, features acclaimed professionals as well as talented newcomers and combines a powerful eclectic mix of singing styles. The line-up includes ITV´s X Factor finalist Rowetta, tenor Stephen Lloyd-Morgan, WoW Factor runner-up Rebecca Tate, Mayte, Daniel Boland, The Unity Gospel Singers and the popular classical group Tres Divos.

Recorded with just 4 days notice and without any funding whatsoever; dependant entirely on the selfless generosity of so many and the time and resources they were freely willing to provide, this single stands as the first recorded and released `classical cover´ song for charity!

As well as in Spain and the UK, the single was recently released throughout North America, Canada and 19 other countries worldwide.

Also commending the Help Haiti Campaign, Marbella Tourist Minister Jose Luis Hernández wrote `the expat community is giving us an example of generosity and commitment in view of the magnitude of the devastation suffered by Haiti...even in these moments of economic crisis...our society, and particularly our expat community, is giving such an evident proof of commitment with the suffering of human beings that did not have anything before the tragedy and, after it, the only thing they have is pain and hopelessness. Of the Charity single Manilva Mayor Antonia Muñoz commented, `We are extremely proud and would very much like to convey our congratulations to the producers of “The Prayer for Haiti”...We very much commend their efforts and that of the entire expatriate community who are banding together to raise much needed funds for this worthy cause´.

While the International mass media might move onto other stories, Maurice Boland and the Talk Radio Europe team have vowed to long continue their campaign to help the children of Haiti.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Snow Polo Cup, 13-14th March

Santa María Polo Club faces a new challenge as a big sports events organizer. This time, polo moves to snow with the Jaeger-LeCoultre Snow Polo Cup 2010, to be held in Sierra Nevada (Granada) Ski Resort on March, 13 and 14. Four teams, 10-12 handicap, will be the stars in this new experience for Spain, in a free access event for spectators. Two matches will be played every day, the first starting at 14:00 and the next one at 15:30. Sunday 14, after the final match, starting at 15:30, the prize giving ceremony will take place. The polo field will be set up in Los Peñones Parking, and can be reached by road and Parador and Virgen de las Nieves chair lift.

Jaeger-LeCoultre, a brand closely linked to polo, will collaborate with Santa María Polo Club as Main Sponsor, while BMW will be the Official Car and Nespresso, Cervezas Alhambra, Coca-Cola, Casablanca, Hotel Meliá Sol y Nieve and AMG Servicios will be present as Official Products, counting with Turismo Andaluz, Consejería de Turismo, Comercio y Deporte de la Junta de Andalucía, CETURSA, Patronato de Turismo de Granada, la CEA (Andalucía Entrepreuners Federation), Puerto Deportivo Alcaidesa, Federación Andaluza de Polo and Monachil Town Council as participating organizations. Snow Polo is played in a compact snow surface, 100/150 meters long and 80/100 meters wide, enclosed by a fence to avoid the ball goin off the field. The snow polo ball is bigger, in intense orange to make it visible, and less rigid. Matches consist of 5 chukkers following the same rules that traditional polo. This new discipline preserves classical virtues of polo, such as speed and aesthetics, offering spectacle on snow and the sorroundings wher the competition is held. In the beginning, snow polo was a training for professional players like Adolfo Cambiaso, Pablo MacDonough or Piki Díaz Alberdi but year after year, the interest is raising both for players and spectators.

First ADEC Wine Tasting raises 850€ in 2hrs!

Friday 5th February saw the first Wine Tasting held by ADEC in conjunction with Anglo Wines of Pueblo Nuevo. ADEC is a newly formed charity – Association de Ayuda a Enfermos de Cáncer en sus Casas, aiming to provide palliative care in the home for cancer sufferers in the San Roque area.

Over 100 people gathered at Anglo Wines to sample a red wine from Ronda and a couple of new Spanish whites on which Richard Bell-Young wanted a view for the summer season. There was a fantastic raffle of wine hampers provided by Richard Bell-Young, as well as wonderful prizes donated by Katie Lee (hot stone massage), dinner for two at the Rock Hotel, Gibraltar and a gift from Homemakers. Eleven of the Costa del Sols finest singers banded together in collaboration with Rowetta on Saturday 13th February, and with just 4 days notice, and a month after the devastating earthquake, to record a charity single for Haiti at one of Europe´s top International Studios based in Marbella.

Predominately widely unknown artists, and in cases raw talent; the first line and Italian duet sung by 15 year old Rebecca Tate. Banding together simply for the cause to help the people of Haiti, and on zero budget; a world away from the corporate music industry, we believe it has still resulted in a remarkable achievement.

A cover version of Céline Dion and Andrea Bocelli´s highly emotional song “The Prayer”, which won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song from the film Quest for Camelot in 1999; this charity version renamed “The Prayer for Haiti”.

The single is initially released as an internet download only, royalty free, by kind permission of writers David Foster, Carole Bayer Sager & Andrea Bocelli.

This recording, parts sung in Italian, English and also Spanish, is a fantastic eclectic mix of singing styles, and features ITV´s X Factor finalist Rowetta, now acclaimed Tenor Stephen Lloyd-Morgan, Spain´s 15 year old WoWFactor runner-up Rebecca Tate, the equally brilliant voices of Mayte, Daniel Boland, The Unity Gospel Singers and the popular classical group Tres Divos.

Produced by Nick Holland & Stephen Lloyd-Morgan in association with Maurice Boland of Talk Radio Europe and Essential Marbella Magazine; they were inspired to record this single after the overwhelming response to Stephen & Rebecca singing The Prayer at The Gala Dinner for Haiti held at La Quinta Golf on 5th February organised by Maurice! The Spring Concerts for Cudeca – The Pontarddulais Welsh Male Voice Choir

Following the overwhelming success of The Autumn Concert for Cudeca last October at The Hotel Kempinski, Estepona, there will be a series of Concerts this Spring with the world famous 75 strong Pontarddulais Welsh Male Voice Choir, with special guest soloists Stephen Lloyd-Morgan, Yazz and Siân Hopkins. These Concerts are sponsored by Ibex Insurance, celebrating their 10th Anniversary year!

The Pontarddulais Male Choir - Côr Meibion Pontarddulais – established in 1960, is the most successful competitive and prestigious male choir in Wales. Having won the main choir prize at the Welsh National Eisteddfod a record 15 times; the latest in 2008, and the International Eisteddfod prize on two occasions. The male choir is also internationally renowned, having appeared in many parts of Europe as well as Canada and the United States. They also performed choral parts in the Pink Floyd film 'The Wall' and recorded with Roger Waters on his hit single 'The Tide is Turning'.

On five occasions the choir has given concerts in its own right at The Royal Albert Hall, London, which ranks among the Choir's UK highlights.

The Choir has been honoured to sing before members of the Royal Family on many occasions. Concerts at St David's Hall, Cardiff and the Royal Albert Hall, London have been undertaken in the presence of the HRH The Prince of Wales, The Duke and Duchess of Kent and the late HM The Queen Mother & Diana Princess of Wales.

Welsh Tenor Stephen Lloyd-Morgan has gained widespread popularity and critical acclaim the length of The Costa del Sol, especially for his after-dinner entertainment evenings and more recently his numerous sell-out concert performances, which incorporate a wide ranging repertoire of Musical Theatre & Opera, including `Crossover´ & `Il Divo´ style Classics.

Yazz, a British pop singer, remains best known for her successful 1988 dance track, "The Only Way Is Up". She continued to release singles and returned to the charts in the 90´s. In 1997 she recorded the album Natural Life. Her 2008 album Running Back to You charts her spiritual journey and her new-found Christian faith. Yazz is now based in Spain and is an active member of the Calahonda Baptist Church.

Siân Hopkins is remembered by many for her solo performances as a child soprano on the Welsh Language TV Show of the 1950`s & 60´s Gwlad y Gan - `Land of Song´ - A show that was broadcast across the UK once a month and regularly attracted an audience of some ten million! Siân was given regular solo spots; she became a favourite soloist with her clear sweet soprano voice. Siân has since become a very well known and acclaimed soloist the length of the Costa del Sol, as well as continuing her successful leading roles at The Salon Varietes.

The highlight and finale of The Spring Concerts for Cudeca will be held at the 5* Hotel Don Carlos, Marbella on Wednesday 3rd March at 9pm, hosted by Maurice Boland of Talk Radio Europe, preceded by two Concerts at the Salon Varietes Theatre Fuengirola on 27th & 28th February (NB Sian Hopkins will be the only guest soloist on these 2 dates).

The Art Shows consist of 3-act performances:
1- a Audio-Visual presentation, displayed on a large screen with Live Music, takes us to the fascinating world of colours and the art of painting across the ages, followed by an exploration of the 'Art of Upside-down' paintings or reversible images, illustrated by some of the most consummate artworks of Arcimboldo, Salvador Dali, and Richard Meric. (approx. 1 and a half hours)

2- the artists themselves interact with the audience

3- the audience is guided through an exhibition of Richard Meric's artworks.

Los Conciertos de Primavera a Beneficio de Cudeca – Coro Masculino Galés de Pontarddulais

A raíz del enorme éxito del Concierto de Otoño a Beneficio de Cudeca celebrado en octubre, esta primavera se celebrará de nuevo una serie de Conciertos en el que participará el mundialmente conocido Coro Masculino Galés de Pontarddulais con sus 75 voces, y solistas invitados: Stephen Lloyd-Morgan, Yazz y Sian Hopkins. Estos conciertos están patrocinados por Ibex Insurance, en la celebración de su 10º Aniversario.

El Coro Masculino de Pontarddulais – Cor Meibion Pontarddulais – fundado en 1960, es el coro masculino más prestigioso y ganador de más premios en Gales. Ha ganado el premio coral del Eisteddfod Nacional de Gales nada menos que 15 veces; el último en el 2008, y el premio del Eisteddfod Internacional en dos ocasiones.

El tenor galés, Stephen Lloyd-Morgan posee una gran popularidad y buena crítica a lo largo de la Costa del Sol, especialmente cantando en directo en cenas, y mas recientemente, actuando en conciertos en los que siempre cuelga el cartel de “completo”.

Yazz es una cantante inglesa de pop, más conocida por su disco de música de baile del año 1988 “The Only Way is Up”. Siguió grabando discos y regresó a la fama en los años 90. En el año 1977 grabó el álbum Natural Life y en el 2008 Running Back to You.

A Sian Hopkins se le recuerda por sus numerosas actuaciones como soprano juvenil en un programa de la televisión de habla galesa de los años 1950 y 60 Gwlad y Gan – “Land of Song”. Este programa se emitía mensualmente por todo Gran Bretaña con una audiencia de casi diez millones de espectadores!

Local residents, of all ages, that are suffering from cancer and need help and support. Our aim is to raise money to provide positive care for them in their own homes.

Local charity fundraising committee - ADEC is organising a BEACH SPORTS DAY with fun games that include a sack race, tug 'o' war and the infamous egg and spoon race.

There will be refreshments and a raffle. There is a small entry fee to cover costs.

The Spring Concerts for Cudeca – The Pontarddulais Welsh Male Voice Choir

Following the overwhelming success of The Autumn Concert for Cudeca last October at The Hotel Kempinski, Estepona, there will be a series of Concerts this Spring with the world famous 75 strong Pontarddulais Welsh Male Voice Choir, with special guest soloists Stephen Lloyd-Morgan, Yazz and Siân Hopkins. These Concerts are sponsored by Ibex Insurance, celebrating their 10th Anniversary year!

The Pontarddulais Male Choir - Côr Meibion Pontarddulais – established in 1960, is the most successful competitive and prestigious male choir in Wales. Having won the main choir prize at the Welsh National Eisteddfod a record 15 times; the latest in 2008, and the International Eisteddfod prize on two occasions. The male choir is also internationally renowned, having appeared in many parts of Europe as well as Canada and the United States. They also performed choral parts in the Pink Floyd film 'The Wall' and recorded with Roger Waters on his hit single 'The Tide is Turning'.

On five occasions the choir has given concerts in its own right at The Royal Albert Hall, London, which ranks among the Choir's UK highlights.

The Choir has been honoured to sing before members of the Royal Family on many occasions. Concerts at St David's Hall, Cardiff and the Royal Albert Hall, London have been undertaken in the presence of the HRH The Prince of Wales, The Duke and Duchess of Kent and the late HM The Queen Mother & Diana Princess of Wales.

Welsh Tenor Stephen Lloyd-Morgan has gained widespread popularity and critical acclaim the length of The Costa del Sol, especially for his after-dinner entertainment evenings and more recently his numerous sell-out concert performances, which incorporate a wide ranging repertoire of Musical Theatre & Opera, including `Crossover´ & `Il Divo´ style Classics.

Yazz, a British pop singer, remains best known for her successful 1988 dance track, "The Only Way Is Up". She continued to release singles and returned to the charts in the 90´s. In 1997 she recorded the album Natural Life. Her 2008 album Running Back to You charts her spiritual journey and her new-found Christian faith. Yazz is now based in Spain and is an active member of the Calahonda Baptist Church.

Siân Hopkins is remembered by many for her solo performances as a child soprano on the Welsh Language TV Show of the 1950`s & 60´s Gwlad y Gan - `Land of Song´ - A show that was broadcast across the UK once a month and regularly attracted an audience of some ten million! Siân was given regular solo spots; she became a favourite soloist with her clear sweet soprano voice. Siân has since become a very well known and acclaimed soloist the length of the Costa del Sol, as well as continuing her successful leading roles at The Salon Varietes.

The highlight and finale of The Spring Concerts for Cudeca will be held at the 5* Hotel Don Carlos, Marbella on Wednesday 3rd March at 9pm, hosted by Maurice Boland of Talk Radio Europe, preceded by two Concerts at the Salon Varietes Theatre Fuengirola on 27th & 28th February (NB Sian Hopkins will be the only guest soloist on these 2 dates).

Stephen Lloyd-Morgan is a professionally trained singer, having studied opera at the Welsh College of Music and Drama and Musical Theatre at the Mountview Academy of Performing Arts in London. He has since performed in a number of musicals and operas both in the UK and Ireland.

Since moving to Spain in 2007 Steve has gained widespread popularity and critical acclaim, especially for his after-dinner entertainment evenings which incorporate a wide ranging repertoire of Musical Theatre & Opera `Crossover´ Classics. He now has a dedicated following and these performances are often sold out.

Renowned Music Impresario Victor O´Gilvie has worked in the industry for over 30 years, and has organised Concerts for many top international artists along the Costa Del Sol, including BB King, Ray Charles, Gloria Gaynor, Paco de Lucía, Elton John and George Benson. Of Stephen Lloyd-Morgan, Victor recently wrote, "I have seen many talented singers during the years I’ve been involved in the Music Business, and surely Steve is one of the most talented performers to come through in this particular area (opera & musical theatre) in many years." - October 2008

Steve’s open and friendly face does not give away how hard he actually works, and how determined he is to succeed. A patriotic Welshman from the Rhondda Valley, South Wales, he is undeniably a born singer and entertainer.

Steve is a truly dedicated professional, evidently passionate about his art. He somehow manages to juggle his rehearsals and numerous performances with his full-time job with an investment bank in Gibraltar. Those who have met Steve describe him as shy, quiet and extremely unassuming. It is therefore particularly surprising that this is the same person who sings such breathtakingly powerful songs.

Performing a handful of his repertoire in an evening would be an achievement for many, but to sing such demanding songs relentlessly in English, Spanish or Italian, almost without pause, sometimes for up to two hours, is remarkable.
